An Innovative Congregation Reaches Out
And Provides An Important Service

Temple Sholom in Cincinnati, Ohio, initiated its “Stream Home To Sholom” program during the High Holy Days in 2010.
The purpose of this initiative was primarily to be able to allow our homebound and out of town congregants share our High Holy Day services and was the inspiration of Rabbi Terlinchamp.
A volunteer team set up this with a borrowed camera, microphone, and laptop, and we were just going to stream Erev Rosh Hashanah and Kol Nidre as a pilot.
The response was overwhelming from our congregants – with many emails and requests to stream Rosh Hashanah morning and Yom Kippur coming to the Rabbi and to the Temple and we decided “on the fly” to expand this to Rosh Hashanah morning and Yom Kippur.
During last year, with no external communication, this broadcast “went viral” with over 300 individuals participating in our High Holy Day services worldwide and many heartfelt emails and thanks sent to our congregation and Rabbi – both from our congregants and also from Jews across the country.
After this outpouring, our board quickly authorized a benevolent fund and budget to continue with this program.   Temple Sholom then formalized its “Stream Home to Sholom” program and purchased the equipment.
We are a small synagogue and do  this strictly with volunteers (Our “Stream Team”).
We stream our Shabbat Services twice per month for our homebound and out of town congregants and typically get 10-20% of our service participants online.
For this past High Holy Days, we reached over 800 individuals and families across the globe.
Thank you to
Jews On The Web for featuring us to help us publicize this Mitzvah to the many Jews who participated online with us for High Holy Days this year – whether homebound, not near their synagogue, or without a formal synagogue community.

Tune in to Temple Sholom's Sabbath services broadcast online twice per month. And, we at www.jewsOnTheWeb.com are honored to spread the word of this great mitvah that they are doing! May they be an inspiration to others!
